About the Founder

Muziwandile Gwala

Founder & Director – MathEngTutor

“Empowering future engineers through excellence in mathematics.”

Muziwandile Gwala is the Founder and Director of MathEngTutor, an educational platform established to support engineering students in mastering Engineering Mathematics (N4–N6) and Engineering Science. Driven by a passion for engineering, mathematics and education, he founded MathEngTutor with the vision of helping students build a solid mathematical foundation that prepares them for academic success and professional engineering careers.

He graduated with a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering in 2023 and subsequently pursued an Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering to further expand his knowledge and technical expertise. Throughout his academic journey he developed a deep appreciation for the role of mathematics in engineering, and recognised that a strong understanding of mathematical principles is essential for solving real-world engineering problems.

Teaching experience

After graduating, Muziwandile worked as a tutor at Mangosuthu University of Technology, assisting students with Mechanics of Machines II and Mathematics I, II, III and IV. In 2024 he joined Berea Technical College, where he lectured Mathematics and Mechanical Draughting N4 as well as Mathematics N4–N6.

Across both institutions he worked with students from diverse educational backgrounds, helping them understand challenging engineering concepts through structured lessons, detailed worked examples and practical problem-solving techniques.

His teaching philosophy is centred on simplifying complex concepts, promoting logical thinking, and developing students’ confidence through consistent practice. He believes every student can succeed when given the right guidance, dedication and learning environment.

Industrial experience

Muziwandile gained valuable industrial experience as a Mechanical Engineer Cadet in the petrochemical industry. During this period he was exposed to engineering operations, plant maintenance, mechanical equipment, preventive and corrective maintenance, engineering inspections, fault diagnosis and workplace safety practices.

Working alongside experienced engineers, technicians and artisans strengthened his understanding of engineering principles and demonstrated how engineering mathematics is applied in solving practical industrial challenges — making his teaching practical, relevant and industry-oriented.

Vision

MathEngTutor was founded with a clear purpose: to provide high-quality engineering mathematics education that inspires confidence, develops analytical thinking, and prepares students for successful engineering careers.

Muziwandile believes that engineering mathematics is the foundation of every engineering discipline. Through MathEngTutor he remains committed to simplifying complex mathematical concepts, mentoring aspiring engineers, and equipping students with the knowledge and problem-solving skills needed to excel in both their academic studies and the engineering profession.
